it starts.

jessica and i used to have a nintendo 64 that we LOVED. no really - spent hours playing it. one of our favorite games was the lion king. and at the beginning of it, simba's dad would say "it starts." anyway. random fact.

this morning, dennis drove to school all by himself. i was a nervous wreck. i woke up at the crack of dawn and made a sausage lentil soup to go in the crock pot because i knew i wouldn't be able to sleep.

dennis came downstairs and i gave him the "your cellphone must be off when you drive" speech. the rule is that he has to call us before he leaves, turn it off, drive to the destination, turn it on and call us.

well, he just called. i am worry-free until 3 p.m. when he calls to let us know he's on his way home.

i am not ready for this.

Oh sister...Nintendo 64 was way past our time! It was a Super Nintendo (i still have it) SNES if you want to get (super nintendo entertainment system?) technical.

Glad to hear Dennis made it to school! what a great kiddo.

-are you imagining listening to the sweet sound of me singing to the lion king sountrack (everymorning in the shower)? Hope so.

i'm afraid you'll never be ready for anything coming your way. i mean, i wasn't ready for the walking. but it's here. and i won't be ready for the date. but i'm sure she will be here sooner than later.

oh oh oh. breaking my heart.

i'm proud of dennis. he is such a good kid. and you should be proud of you and jon. you both are such good parents.

i love you.

sister, you are too much. of course you would know what it was. and yes, i miss your constant soundtrack in the shower. you sure did love to sing in the bathtub.

and hannah - i guess you're right. there's no prep for any of this. you just have to sit back and enjoy the proverbial ride.
